Asymmetric cryorolling for high-performance particle-reinforced aluminum matrix composites (IMAGE)
Caption
Rolling particle-reinforced aluminum matrix composite sheets at liquid nitrogen temperatures (77 K) results in higher strength and ductility compared to that of sheets rolled at room temperature owing to fewer microstructural defects than in the latter. Consequently, the technology is expected to find novel applications in the aerospace industry.
