SMCHD1 is involved in gathering pieces of DNA together. In the image two of these pieces are marked with magenta and green dots, while all the DNA is marked in turquoise. When SMCHD1 has gathered two pieces together you see a magenta dot with a yellow centre, indicating the magenta and green dots are at the same place, mediated by SMCHD1.
