BU Doctor Elected to American College of Surgeons’ Board of Governors
(Boston) -- Anand Devaiah, MD, professor of otolaryngology-head & neck surgery and neurosurgery at Boston University School of Medicine (BUSM), was elected to the American College of Surgeons’ (ACS) Board of Governors representing the Fellows in the Society of University Otolaryngologists. As a Specialty Society Governor, he will serve a three-year term as a liaison between the Fellows of the College and the members of the Board of Governors including participating in workshops and meetings.
Devaiah also serves as an otolaryngologist at Boston Medical Center, where he specializes in endoscopic minimally invasive skull base surgery, otologic/vestibular disorders, lateral skull base diseases and tumors, anterior skull base tumors/paranasal sinus diseases, and head and neck surgery including cancer.
In addition, Devaiah is Director of the Biomedical & Health Technology Development & Transfer Domain at BU’s Institute for Health System Innovation & Policy, where leads the Institute’s activities integrating new tools for health improvement being developed by scientists and technologists.
In 2020 he was invited to give the John Conley, MD, Lecture on Medical Ethics at the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery Annual Meeting, an honor based on Dr. Conley's passion for head and neck surgery and dedication to the highest standard of ethical behavior from physicians. Past lecturers include heads of state, government and prominent medical leaders.
ACS was founded in 1913 with the mission of improving surgical care and setting ethical practice standards.
