DARIEN, IL – The world’s largest sleep meeting dedicated to clinical sleep medicine, sleep health, and sleep and circadian research returns to an in-person event this June. SLEEP 2022, the 36th annual meeting of the Associated Professional Sleep Societies, LLC, will be held in Charlotte, North Carolina, from June 4 through June 8. Thousands of attendees from around the world are expected to go “Back to SLEEP” to reconnect with colleagues while learning the latest in clinical sleep science and practice, basic and translational sleep and circadian science, and sleep technology.

“After holding virtual meetings for the last two years, the APSS is thrilled to be able to meet face-to-face to engage with sleep and circadian researchers and clinicians from near and far,” said APSS Program Committee Chair Dr. Shalini Paruthi. “In-person meetings are exciting and inspiring, and SLEEP 2022 offers something for everyone. From fellows and junior-level investigators to the most seasoned clinicians, there is much to learn about the latest research and best practices in the field.”

The SLEEP 2022 scientific program begins at 1 p.m. on Sunday, June 5, at the Charlotte Convention Center. A variety of educational formats will be offered including discussion groups, rapid-fire symposia, lunch debates, oral and poster presentations, clinical workshops, and the technologist track. Topics include sleep health disparities, innovations in behavioral sleep medicine, sleep and cannabis, school start times, and daylight saving time. This year’s meeting includes more than 100 sessions, over 800 abstracts in oral and poster formats, including late-breaking abstract presentations, and the opportunity to enjoy more than 38 hours of continuing education.

Dr. Susan Redline will present the keynote address on Monday, June 6, during the plenary session. The Harvard University professor of sleep medicine and epidemiology will speak about the relationship between obstructive sleep apnea and cardiovascular disease. The plenary session will also include presentation of the 2022 American Academy of Sleep Medicine, Sleep Research Society, and APSS awards.

The abstract supplement includes the research abstracts that will be presented at SLEEP 2022. From Sunday, June 5, through Tuesday, June 7, the poster presentations will be on display. Authors will be present to discuss their research during the official viewing hours of 5:15 to 7:15 p.m. Press releases highlighting some of the intriguing research at SLEEP 2022 will be available on the meeting website and will be distributed on site, and interviews with study authors and expert spokespersons can be scheduled by request.

The SLEEP 2022 exhibit hall will showcase the latest products and services in the sleep field. Open Monday, June 6, and Tuesday, June 7, from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., and Wednesday, June 8, from 10 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., the exhibit hall features a variety of equipment manufacturers, medical publishers, pharmaceutical companies, and technology providers that are among the leaders in new developments to advance the sleep medicine field.

Attendees and community members are invited to participate in the PJ5K run/walk on Sunday, June 5, at 7 a.m. at Romare Bearden Park in Charlotte. Participants are encouraged to wear their favorite family-friendly pajamas for the event. Following the run, a free, family-oriented event featuring inflatable bouncers, instructed yoga sessions, other interactive activities, and free sleep health information will take place to educate attendees about the importance of healthy sleep. Proceeds from the PJ5K will benefit the AASM Foundation and the SRS Foundation to support research that positively impacts the lives of people with sleep disorders.
