What:

Artificial intelligence (AI) technologies promise to train computers to rapidly and reliably inform clinical decision making for improved diagnoses, treatment plans, and patient outcomes. The National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering (NIBIB) at NIH will convene science and medical experts from academia, industry, and government at a workshop on Artificial Intelligence in Medical Imaging.

Among topics to be considered are:

  • The state-of-the-art of AI applications for medical imaging
  • Hurdles to quality, reproducibility, and reliability of AI in medical imaging for clinical use
  • How AI can improve the value of medical imaging and healthcare overall.

In addition to NIBIB, the workshop is co-sponsored by the National Cancer Institute, the National Institute of Aging, and the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research, all part of the National Institutes of Health; and by the American College of Radiology (ACR), the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), and the Academy for Radiology & Biomedical Imaging Research.

When:

Thursday, Aug. 23, 2018, 8:30 a.m. - 4:40 p.m. EDT, Friday, Aug. 24, 2018, 8:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. EDT
