Kazan Federal University

EJAAD delegation was headed by Director Abdullah Al Abri.

Rector Ilshat Gafurov introduced Kazan Federal University and spoke about the criteria that the university has determined for its research teams, namely, the number of publications, incoming funding, and international collaborations. A new criterion introduced recently is the creation of educational programs.

Dr. Mikhail Varfolomeev, Head of EcoOil Research Project, then followed with his presentation of petroleum and natural gas research at Kazan University. Coincidentally, he is the individual responsible for establishing KFU's initial links with Omani colleagues in 2014.

Mr. Al Abri talked in detail about EJAAD. It's a collaborative platform for industrial and academic entities specializing in energy, petroleum industry, renewables, and water management. EJAAD was first established by Petroleum Development Oman, the Research Council of Oman, and the Ministry of Oil and Gas. Since 2018, over 40 stakeholders have joined the consortium, including all the leading petroleum and natural gas companies. In the short timeframe, the collaborative platform has advanced quite far in uniting industrialists and scientists in their efforts to implement the nation's development strategy for the year 2040.

In conclusion, the sides signed a comprehensive cooperation agreement, the first such document in the history of EJAAD with overseas institutional partners, as emphasized by Mr. Al Abri.
