Fundamentals of Materials Engineering - A Basic Guide is a helpful textbook for readers learning the basics of materials science. This book covers important topics and fundamental concepts of materials engineering including crystal structure, imperfections, mechanical properties of materials, polymers, powder metallurgy, corrosion and composites. The authors have explained the concepts in an effective way and by using simple language for the benefit of a broad range of readers. About the Author:

Dr. Shashanka Rajendrachari is currently working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Bartin University, Turkey. He obtained a Ph.D. in powder metallurgy from the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, National Institute of Technology, Rourkela, India. He was named as the grand powder metallurgy student of the year by the Powder Metallurgy Association of India in 2015. He was awarded with the 'Young Scientist-2020' award at the 4th International Scientist Awards ceremony on Engineering, Science and Medicine held at Chennai, India. Dr. Rajendrachari is experienced in preparing nano-structured stainless steel powders by powder metallurgy methods. He is the author of one book and several book chapters and has published more than 30 research articles in various peer-reviewed international journals. His areas of research are mechanical alloying, nanomaterials, corrosion, electrochemical sensors, etc.

Prof. Dr. Orhan UZUN is currently working as a rector at Bartin University, Turkey. He graduated from Karadeniz Technical University, Fatih Faculty of Education, Department of Physics Teaching, Turkey in 1990. He completed his masters degree in physics at Yuzuncu Yil University, Turkey in 1993, and his doctorate at the Department of Physics Education at Gazi University, Turkey in 1998. He was a visiting researcher at Sheffield University in England during his doctorate education and at Stanford University and Silicon Valley in the USA after his doctorate. He has worked as a researcher and a principal investigator in more than 18 R&D projects supported by SPO, TUBITAK, and Universities. He has guided many graduate and doctorate students. Dr. UZUN has been a referee and editor in many journals in addition to his duties as a project evaluator, referee, and panelist in TUBITAK and some Ministries. His research mainly focuses on superconductivity, hydrogen storage, smart and nano-structured materials. He has published more than 200 research articles in reputed international journals.
