Ring-shaped glomerular arrangement in the peripheral region of the antennal lobe of a migratory locust (IMAGE)
Caption
The cross-sectional image of the antennal lobe shows the ring-shaped glomerular arrangement in the peripheral region of the antennal lobe of a migratory locust (Locusta migratoria). The region receives input from olfactory sensory neurons that respond to the cannibalism-stopping pheromone phenylacetonitrile (PAN), first described by Bill Hansson's research team in a study published in Science in 2023 (https://www.ice.mpg.de/445329/PR_Chang). Fluorescence microscope image using mCherry immunostaining.
