(a) Schematic crystal structure of monolayer Cr₂Se₃ grown on a graphene substrate. (b) Photograph of the micro-ARPES system. By irradiating the material surface with ultraviolet light and precisely measuring the energy and momentum of photoemitted electrons via the external photoelectric effect, the electronic structure of the material can be clarified. Furthermore, by focusing the light beam down to the micron scale, it becomes possible to analyze the local electronic structure. (c) Energy band structure of monolayer Cr₂Se₃ determined by micro-ARPES. (d) Valley states populated by electrons transferred from the graphene substrate.
