NASA polar jet stream (IMAGE)
Caption
A Dartmouth study challenges the idea that climate change has caused large waves in the polar jet stream (pictured) in recent years as scientists have suggested. These large waves have brought Arctic-like temperatures and storms to temperate regions of the U.S. The high-altitude wind of the polar jet stream modulates weather in Europe, Asia, and North America. In North America, it flows roughly along the United States' border with Canada.
