Fig. 3 In complex media, structured light experiences modal scattering, with each mode mixing with all the other modes. This happens over and over as the light passes through.  This complexity can be unravelled using AI, to computationally sort out the desired mode from the mix.  But the pattern looks just like a neural network.  From this perspective, the complexity of structured light in complex channels can be exploited for computing, new optical AI machines that harness structured light.
