Schematic representation of the active mechanism of the enzyme BurK: The enzyme splits a highly reactive chemical structure in the bacterial toxin malleicyprol, thereby rendering it harmless. This specifically weakens the pathogenic effect of bacteria of the genus Burkholderia.
