Clues to the sanctuary’s end? A well yielded a bronze statuette of the goddess Diana, a dedicatory inscription to Mercury Alatheus dated 9 September 246 CE, and a human skeleton. Coins found in the fill indicate that the well was not closed before 249 CE.
