Confocal microscopy captures both the structure and the motion of the rod-like particles in detail (IMAGE)
Caption
Confocal microscopy captures both the structure and the motion of the rod-like particles in detail. At low density, they form an ordered crystal (left). At higher density, the particles can still rotate but become glass-like and amorphous (right). Left panels show single snapshots, right panels overlay multiple snapshots.
