Micrograph (IMAGE)
Caption
The DNA needle is marked with a red dye at the top and a green cleavable dye at the tip. When the DNA needle inserts into the cells, the needle itself and the red dye remain in the membrane, while the green cleavable dye is released inside the cell. The image shows cell membranes from two and a half cells, as well as released green dye in the cytoplasm.
