Top: Variation of the Fe Kα emission line shift due to the binary orbital motion, assuming neutral iron without correcting for ionization effects. In principle, the velocity of the system and the energy offset of the Fe Kα line should be consistent. However, in this case, a discrepancy of several eV is evident. Bottom: Binary orbital motion of Centaurus X-3 as observed by XRISM. The Doppler effect associated with this motion produces a sinusoidal modulation in the observed emission-line energy.
