(a) ESI-MS spectrum and (b) predicted geometric structure of the Ir15 NC. The sharp peak observed in the ESI-MS spectrum indicates that the Ir15 NC was obtained with exceptionally high purity. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) imaging revealed a structural motif that closely matches the geometric structure predicted by density functional theory (DFT) calculations.
