Assessing fish biodiversity using eDNA (IMAGE)
Caption
Assessing fish biodiversity is especially difficult in large to very large rivers, such as Yangtze River, where electrofishing or gillnet fishing are only partially possible. In these systems, eDNA can be an especially powerful method. On the photo, a water sample from 30 m depths in the water column is taken for subsequent eDNA analysis.
