"There are a lot of battle scenes and a lot of detailed depictions of violence. Actually, it's an extremely violent text. The Iliad poses a number of dilemmas that are linked to warrior culture. There is this contradiction in war – that it is a place where you can win honour, but at the same time a place linked to pain and death," says Aslak Rostad.
