Sunspot as seen by Sunrise III

A sunspot imaged by the SUSI instrument on Sunrise III. The bottom left triangle of the image shows the raw observational data; the top right triangle shows the processed data. In this way, Sunrise III achieves a resolution of up to 50 kilometers on the Sun. The sunspot shown here measures approximately 10000 kilometers in diameter.
