Caption
A layer of smoke at an altitude of 11 km above Leipzig during the night of 28 July to 29 July 26. The coloured layers identify the smoke layers by showing the intensity of fluorescence backscattering (number of photons counted), which is particularly strong in smoke particles. The more fluorescent smoke particles there are, the more intense the red colour becomes.
