Sensory ecologist Ralph Simon proposed the SELFCURE project to investigate whether bats self-medicate and if their behaviors change when they’re sick or recovering from illness. Together with Dan Becker, and Rachel Page applied to and were awarded a grant from the Human Frontier Science Program to conduct a three-year study on tropical bats in Gamboa, Panama.
