How dwarf reedsnakes roll (IMAGE)
Caption
Cartoon illustrating how dwarf reedsnakes roll. Viewed from the side, the upper row shows a transition from rolling with the dorsal side visible to rolling with the ventral side visible through a stroke, whereas the lower row shows the reverse transition. These cycles alternate to produce continuous locomotion. Shading indicates the dorsoventral orientation of the body and is exaggerated relative to the actual appearance for clarity.
