A miniature model of intestinal tissue.

This mouse intestinal organoid gives researchers a three-dimensional, lab-grown system for studying how epithelial cells grow and divide. Its outward-facing basal surface makes it possible to observe cell behaviors that are normally difficult to see in intact tissue.
