After spontaneous contractions of the vessel were induced and the viability of the vessel's endothelial cells and smooth muscle cells was confirmed, a nanomaterial dispersion was perfused through the vessel lumen and powered by the vessel's spontaneous contractions. Lumen inflows are shown on the right side of the screen, with outflows on the left side. High-speed camera images (FAST CAM AX50: Photron Limited, Tokyo, Japan) were recorded at a magnification of x400 and a speed of 500 frames per second (fps), and were played at a speed of 250 fps (approximately half speed). Video recording of the spontaneous contractions of a lymph vessel prior to perfusion with multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs). Spontaneous contractions of a lymph vessel containing Krebs solution in the lumen prior to perfusion with MWCNTs. Lymph vessel diameter changes and valve motions are in synchrony with the spontaneous contractions. Credit Copyright © 2021 Elsevier B.V.
