Surface layer of chlorine-doped perovskite

OIST researchers used scanning tunneling microscopy to image the surface layer of perovskite doped with chlorine. The dark depressions show where chlorine (Cl) is incorporated within the crystal lattice, by taking the place of iodine (I).
