The video shows how photoacoustic microscopy images the brain’s vasculature. The video on the left shows the blood flow within the brain, and the colored video on the right includes colors to show the changing levels of oxygenation in the capillaries. When the vasculature turns blue, the brain is experiencing hypoxia, which causes the vessels to dilate.
