Wild rice plants with the double mutation exhibited slight abscission layer inhibitions around the vascular bundles (as indicated by the arrowhead) and it was determined that the seed was attached to the rachis. However even with this partial abscission layer junction, the seeds still tend to fall easily in a natural environment.
