The R/V F.G. Walton Smith positioned in the Gulf of Mexico was the platform for scientists to catch mahi-mahi, fit them with satellite tags programmed to collect temperature, depth, acceleration, and location information, and expose them to either oil or control conditions in experimental tanks before releasing them back in the Gulf of Mexico.
