(A) We analyzed the expression of Mkx and Scx in the rat PDL and found that Mkx and Scx expression is observed in different cells in PDL. (B) While Scx-espressing cell population (Scx, red box) more abundant expression of collagen (Col1a1 and Col3a1), Mkx-expressing cell population (Mkx, blue box) exhibited higher expression of genes involved in the synthesis of oxytalan fibers (Matn4) and extracellular matrix (Vcan).
