Stephen Boppart, a professor of electrical and computer engineering at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, led a highly interdisciplinary endeavor to develop a novel device for calibrating sensitive microscopy systems using microscopic nanodiamonds. Boppart co-directs the the GlaxoSmithKline Center for Optical Molecular Imaging at the Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology.
