Warming and consequently drier conditions in Europe, particularly for southern countries, higher the risk for fires. In the report “Spreading like wildfires: the rising threat of extraordinary landscape fires”, by UN Environmental Program (UNEP) and GRID-Arendal (a UNEP partner) in 2022, conclude that climate change and land-use change are making wildfires worse.
