People’s perception of urban spaces could be associated with depressive symptoms in middle-aged people, who constitute 5% of all people living with depression, a chronic mental health disorder. Research shows that depressive symptoms could potentially be improved by making public transportation safer and improving people’s perceptions of neighborhood spaces as walkable.
