Samuel Teitelbaum, an assistant professor of physics, stands in front of a newly commissioned prototype instrument, called the Compact X-ray Light Source (CXLS). With the new NSF award, ASU will be building a second, 10-meter long, more advanced $90M instrument, the World's first Compact X-ray Free Electron Laser (CXFEL), that will push the boundaries of compact X-ray science.
