A 2018 seismic survey of New Zealand’s Hikurangi subduction zone. The survey involved trailing an ultrasound scanner behind the research vessel Marcus Langseth. Data collected during the seismic ultrasound helped researchers at University of Texas Institute for Geophysics produce the first ever 3D image of a large seamount in the act of colliding with a subduction zone.
