Artificial Intelligence (AI) is poised to transform healthcare, but its successful integration into healthcare requires careful consideration of regulatory frameworks, governance structures, data equity, and privacy protections.

A team led by Lifang He and Mooi Choo Chuah, professors of computer science and engineering at Lehigh, along with Xiang Li of Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School (MGH/HMS) and Yuan Luo of the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, are helping their research community to coalesce around this challenge by gathering researchers, clinicians, and industry experts as part of the 2025 AAAI Spring Symposium Series sponsored by the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI).

The team's "Leveraging AI to Revolutionize Healthcare" symposium will be a key portion of the Spring Symposium Series, set for Monday, March 31 through Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at the San Francisco Airport Marriott Waterfront in Burlingame, California. The Series is an annual event hosted by AAAI that is designed to bring colleagues together in an intimate forum while providing a significant gathering point for the AI community.

"This symposium aims to explore current challenges and forward-looking solutions to enhance AI's reliability, inclusivity, and ethical impact in healthcare," says He. "By bringing together diverse stakeholders, we seek to foster cross-disciplinary collaboration and promote the development of people-centered, AI-enabled healthcare systems."

Keynote speakers during the AI for Health Symposium will include: Randy Hirschtick, MGH/HMS; Santosh Kumar, University of Memphis; Ruowang Li, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center; Alex Leow, University of Illinois Chicago; Amir Rahami, University of California–Irvine; Haoteng Tang, University of Texas; and, James Zou, Stanford University.
