The prevalence of mood disorders has risen in recent years while help-seeking behaviors (either medication or talk therapy) has remained consistently low. The Brain & Behavior Research Foundation (BBRF) invites the public to a free webinar, “Improving Psychotherapy for Mood Disorders” on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at 2:00 pm ET. In this webinar, Marc J. Weintraub, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the UCLA Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior, will explore recent scientific advances to improve the efficacy of psychosocial treatments for mood and psychotic disorders. The audience will gain insight into the strengths and weaknesses of current psychotherapies for mood disorders. Dr. Weintraub will also highlight innovative approaches, including the use of a mobile app used as an adjunct to therapy for adolescents at risk for mood disorders and the integration of psilocybin as an adjunct to psychotherapy for adults with major depression.

The session will be hosted by Jeffrey Borenstein, M.D., President & CEO of the Brain & Behavior Research Foundation and host of the Emmy® nominated television series Healthy Minds.

Register Now to learn about Dr. Weintraub’s groundbreaking discoveries on improving psychotherapy for mood disorders.
