Materials and Solidification (2025, Volume 1, Issue 2) officially released – Fostering global academic exchange in materials solidification

Business Announcement

Tsinghua University Press

Recently, the 2025 Volume 1, Issue 2 of Materials and Solidification, an English academic journal dedicated to the field of materials and solidification, has been officially published. Co-sponsored by Tsinghua University Press and academically supported by the State Key Laboratory of Solidification Processing (SKLSP) at Northwestern Polytechnical University (NPU), the journal is led by Professor Jinshan Li (from SKLSP, NPU) as Editor-in-Chief and Professor Junjie Wang (also from SKLSP, NPU) as Executive Editor-in-Chief. It aims to build a high-level academic exchange platform for researchers and engineering technology experts worldwide, promoting the research and development of solidification theory, material design, microstructure evolution, process innovation, and related fields.

2. Journal Overview

Materials and Solidification focuses on frontier research achievements in solidification theory and solidification technology. Its scope covers the solidification theory and technology of bulk or thin-film materials such as metals, semiconductors, organics, inorganics, and polymers. Specific research areas include (but are not limited to):

  • Solidification processing-related technologies (casting, welding, additive manufacturing, etc.);
  • Non-equilibrium solidification phenomena in multi-physical fields (electricity, ultrasound, magnetism, microgravity, etc.).

Key Information for Authors & Readers

3. Distinctive Features of the Journal

1)Pioneering Academic Position: It is China’s first international academic journal focusing on the experiments, theories, and applications of materials solidification, filling the gap in specialized journals in this field in China.

2)Fully Open Access (OA): Published online via SciOpen (an independent OA platform) and edited by Tsinghua University Press, ensuring global researchers can access the latest research results for free, enhancing the international influence of the journal’s content.

3)Steady Publication Progress: Two issues have been published in 2025, and the journal is actively calling for papers worldwide to expand its academic pool.

4)Favorable Submission Policy: For manuscripts submitted between January 1, 2025, and December 31, 2025, the Article Processing Charge (APC) is fully waived, reducing the publication burden for authors.

4. Call for Papers

Materials and Solidification warmly welcomes submissions of frontier research achievements related to solidification theory and technology. In addition to the core research areas mentioned above, the journal also encourages papers featuring:

  • Innovative ideas, theories, and methods;
  • Interdisciplinary explorations;
  • New discoveries, critical thinking, and in-depth insights in the field of materials solidification.

All submissions will undergo a rigorous peer-review process to ensure they meet the highest academic standards.

Accepted Manuscript Types
