ORLANDO (NOV. 9, 2025) – Allergist Cherie Zachary, MD, of Bloomington, MN was installed as president of the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology (ACAAI) at the ACAAI Annual Scientific Meeting on November 10 in Orlando. Allergist David Stukus, MD, of Columbus, OH, was elected ACAAI president-elect.
Other newly-elected ACAAI officers are Maureen Petersen, MD, of Clayton, NC, as vice president and Melinda Rathkopf, MD, MBA, of Atlanta, GA, as treasurer. Regents elected for three-year terms include Christopher C. Chang, MD, PhD, MBA, Hollywood, Florida, Mitchell H. Grayson, MD, Columbus, OH, and Jay A. Lieberman, MD, Memphis, TN.
Dr. Cherie Zachary is a board-certified allergist in Bloomington, MN. Throughout her career, Dr. Zachary worked with patients of all ages while also focusing her efforts on leadership initiatives within the allergy community, and contributions toward equity and membership-development. She was recently appointed by Minnesota Governor Tim Walz to her second term on the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice, chair of the Licensure Committee.
Dr. Zachary received her undergraduate degree in economics at Stanford University and her medical education from Howard University College of Medicine. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Minnesota and her fellowship in Allergy and Immunology at Northwestern University and Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago, IL where she served as an attending physician for eight years after completing her fellowship training.
In addition to being an ACAAI Fellow, Dr. Zachary is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (ACP) and a Fellow of the American Contact Dermatitis Society (ACDS). She has served as a member of the Membership Committee, the Appointments Committee, the Meeting Site Selection Committee, the Government Relations Committee and the Board of Regents for ACAAI. A past Chair of the Allergy Section for the National Medical Association, she has also served as a member of the Medicare Evidence Development and Coverage Advisory Committee.
Patients chose Dr. Zachary as a Top Doctor in Mpls. St. Paul Magazine, and she was chosen as one of the Best Doctors in America by her peers.
Dr. David Stukus is a Professor of Clinical Pediatrics in the Division of Allergy and Immunology at Nationwide Children’s. Prior to becoming the director of the Food Allergy Treatment Center, Dr. Stukus started the Complex Asthma Clinic at Nationwide Children's Hospital in 2011, which treats children with severe or difficult-to-treat asthma.
In addition to providing clinical care for children with all types of food allergies, Dr. Stukus participates in clinical research, quality improvement, patient advocacy, and medical education. An internationally recognized keynote speaker, Dr. Stukus has received named lectureships and awards from national and international organizations. He has served on the ACAAI Board of Regents, Budget/Finance Committee, the Education Council, the Executive Committee and the Fit Bowl Planning Committee.
Dr. Stukus obtained his medical degree at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He completed his residency at Nationwide Children's Hospital and his fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic. He is Board Certified in Allergy/Immunology and Pediatrics. Dr. Dave (as his patients call him) has devoted his career to communicating evidence-based medicine and best clinical practice to colleagues, medical professionals of all backgrounds, patients, and the public.
His wife, Kristin, is a pediatric emergency medicine physician at Nationwide Children's Hospital and they have been settled in central Ohio with their two children since 2011.
