BETHESDA, MD – December 9, 2025 | The American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ACMG) has been awarded full, four-year reaccreditation by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), with no progress reports required. This outcome reflects the highest level of confidence ACCME grants to continuing medical education providers and marks 25 years of uninterrupted accreditation for ACMG.
The reaccreditation affirms ACMG’s longstanding commitment to delivering independent, rigorous, and evidence-based education that advances clinical practice in medical genetics and genomics.
“This reaccreditation is deeply meaningful,” said Jane Radford, MHA, CHCP, Director of Education. “Over the past decade, ACMG has modernized and strengthened the infrastructure that supports our CME program, ensuring that clinicians have access to education grounded in excellence, transparency, and scientific rigor. To receive a clean, four-year renewal after such a complex review cycle is a tremendous milestone for our organization, and I want to especially acknowledge Shweta Dhar, MD, FACMG, Vice President of Education, for her leadership and guidance throughout this effort.”

The reaccreditation followed an extensive review process requiring ACMG to demonstrate full alignment with ACCME’s Standards for Integrity and Independence, including:
- Comprehensive verification of CME activity and performance data
- Resolution of legacy system inconsistencies
- Strengthened disclosure and conflict-mitigation processes
- Updated faculty training and content-validation procedures
The ACCME review highlighted ACMG’s documented continuous improvement and its commitment to ensuring that all accredited education is scientifically grounded, clinically relevant, and free from commercial influence.
Radford noted that the reaccreditation reflects the work of many contributors across the organization. She expressed appreciation for the colleagues who supported the data validation, submission, and narrative development that shaped the reaccreditation cycle.
The announcement comes at an energizing moment for the College, as ACMG continues to expand programming through the ACMG Genetics Academy, enhance compliance systems, and develop new initiatives that meet the evolving needs of geneticists, laboratory professionals, genetic counselors, and allied clinicians.
