China Finance Review International (CFRI) has announced a call for papers for a forthcoming special issue titled “New Frontiers in Sustainable Finance,” inviting original research that examines the growing role of sustainability in financial markets, corporate decision-making, and regulatory frameworks. The special issue aims to capture recent advances in sustainable finance as environmental, social, and governance (ESG) considerations become increasingly central to the global financial system.

Introduction

Sustainability imperatives are reshaping the landscape of modern finance. As economies worldwide transition toward more sustainable development models, the interaction between financial markets, corporate behavior, and technological innovation has become critical to aligning economic growth with environmental, social, and governance (ESG) objectives. Financial institutions, corporations, and regulators are increasingly required to address climate risk, responsible investment, and long-term value creation within an evolving and resource-constrained global economy.

This special issue focuses on the frontiers of sustainable finance and provides a platform for high-quality empirical and theoretical research linking sustainability to corporate policies, investment decisions, capital markets, and regulatory design. It seeks to generate rigorous and actionable insights into how firms, investors, and policymakers can respond to sustainability challenges while maintaining financial performance and market stability.

Contributions to the issue are expected to address timely and policy-relevant topics, including ESG integration, green finance, climate-related financial disclosures, and the role of capital markets in promoting sustainable development. By addressing these issues, the articles published in this special issue aim to advance academic understanding while also informing professional practice and policy development at both national and international levels.
