Strip1は、正しい網膜構造の形成に必要な細胞である網膜神経節細胞の生存に不可欠である。Strip1が欠損すると、網膜神経節細胞は死滅し、他の神経細胞がこれに置き換わるために内網状層に欠陥が生じる。
