Aleksandra Stankovic, PhD, is an investigator in the Center for Space Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Stankovic is a psychologist (and scuba diver) who is interested in how our brains might be affected by the physical and psychological challenges of long-term space travel.
By studying how people function in isolated environments here on earth, she is hoping to devise interventions that could protect astronauts from the stressors of space. She also helps pilots, first responders, and top athletes perform their best in extreme conditions.
Listen to her insights in this first episode of Down to a Science.
