Congratulations to Professor Qian Kun, editorial board member of LabMed Discovery, for winning the "Ruiyuan Youth Science and Technology Award" of Shanghai Jiao Tong University

On April 6, the 129th anniversary commemoration meeting of Shanghai Jiao Tong University was held at the Minhang campus. President (Principal) Ding Kuiling announced the list of the third "Ruiyuan Science and Technology Award" and the second "Ruiyuan Youth Science and Technology Award" at the meeting. Professor Qian Kun, editor of LabMed Discovery and professor at the School of Biomedical Engineering of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, won the Life and Medical Science and Technology Award of the second "Ruiyuan Youth Science and Technology Award".

Qian Kun is a distinguished professor of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the Yangtze River Scholars Program, as well as the chief scientist of the National Key R&D Program. He mainly studies molecular group engineering and translational medicine applications based on mass spectrometry. He has published more than 160 papers in journals such as Cell, authorized and transformed more than 20 patents, and led the first prize of Shanghai Technology Invention, the Gold Award of China's Outstanding Innovative Products for In Vitro Diagnosis, and the Chinese Medical Science and Technology Award. He created a metabolic fingerprint solid phase mass spectrometry platform and formed a new marker screening and detection system, laying an important foundation for large-scale metabolomics and translational medicine.

Introduction to the Rongyuan Science and Technology Award of Shanghai Jiao Tong University

In order to encourage the scientific research spirit of bold exploration and innovation, and to commend outstanding Jiaotong University students who have made outstanding contributions in basic research, applied research and scientific frontier exploration around the world, our 1992 undergraduate alumnus and school director Chen Guangming and his alma mater jointly established the "Ruiyuan Science and Technology Award" and "Ruiyuan Youth Science and Technology Award" of Shanghai Jiao Tong University.  They started the selection in 2022 and 2023 respectively, once a year, and divided into five awards in the fields of Mathematics and Material Science Award, Engineering and Materials Science and Technology Award, Information and Space Science and Technology Award, Marine Engineering and Marine Science Award, and Life and Medical Science and Technology Award. This time, 5 people were selected for the third "Rongyuan Science and Technology Award" and 8 people were selected for the second "Ruiyuan Youth Science and Technology Award".
