Fossil insect reveals earliest known mimicry of flowering plants 99 million years ago
Insect Science, Chinese Academy of SciencePeer-Reviewed Publication
Insects have evolved remarkable ways to avoid predators, with plant mimicry among the most effective. Many living and extinct insects resemble twigs, bark, mosses, lichens or leaves, allowing them to blend seamlessly into their surroundings.

A Chinese neurosurgical journal’s study identifies a risk factor for post-surgical stroke in moyamoya disease
Chinese Neurosurgical JournalPeer-Reviewed Publication
Currently, the treatment for moyamoya disease (MMD), a condition characterized by the blockade of the internal carotid artery, is revascularization surgery. However, this surgery can lead to cerebral ischemia for which limited predictive tools are available. Now, a group of Chinese researchers identified preoperative blockage of the major intracranial arteries as a risk factor for cerebral infarction after combined revascularization surgery in MMD, paving the way for the development of novel prediction protocols.

Climate warming is reshaping snow droughts in Xinjiang
Science China PressPeer-Reviewed Publication
Researchers analyzed snow droughts in Xinjiang from 1980 to 2021 and classified them into warm-only, dry-only, and warm-dry types. The study identifies strong spatial heterogeneity, highlights the Kunlun Mountains as a major hotspot, and shows that warm-dry snow droughts increased markedly after 2000.

Experimental demonstration of intertwined nematic and d-wave superconductive orders in cuprates superconductors
Science China PressPeer-Reviewed Publication
The anisotropy of the superconducting state and the superconducting fluctuations within the CuO₂ plane are directly related to the superconducting mechanism of copper oxide superconductors. Using high‑precision angle‑resolved magneto‑resistivity measurements, the coexistence and intertwining of nematic order and d-wave superconductive order are revealed within the superconducting fluctuation regime for the first time.

A single machine-learning model predicts many kinds of turbulent flow
Science China PressPeer-Reviewed Publication
Researchers have developed a single machine-learning turbulence model that predicts a wide range of turbulent flows—without the manual zoning, switching, or tuning that conventional models require. Led by researchers at the University of Stuttgart, the work advances a long-sought goal in computational fluid dynamics: a unified turbulence model that handles many flow mechanisms within one framework. Details of the findings were published in National Science Review.
