Camelina (Camelina sativa) is gaining global attention as a climate-friendly biofuel crop, yet its limited genetic diversity poses a challenge for crop improvement.
A cutting-edge silicon resonant microsensor has been developed to meet the pressing demand for high-accuracy, wide-range pressure measurements in extreme environments.
Ionic liquids (ILs) are a class of molten salts with a collection of exciting properties, which have been employed for wide-ranging applications across chemistry, biology, and materials science. However, their inherently high viscosity hinders the ability of molecular dynamics (MD) simulations to explore their structure-property relationships on large spatiotemporal scales. Coarse-grained (CG) models address this challenge by retaining essential structural features while eliminating some atomic details, significantly reducing computational costs. A team of theoretical chemists presented the latest advances in IL CG models, with particular emphasis on the procedures for developing efficient CG models and parameterization methods with the aid of machine learning models. They also summarized applications of CG models in biological and electrochemical systems. This work was published in Industrial Chemistry & Materials on 09 Jun 2025.
Long-term success of dental implants depends not just on bone integration but also on the health of surrounding gum tissue.
Researchers from Prof. Quan-You Liu's team at Peking University decoded the complex accumulation mechanisms of China’s nonmarine shale oil, overcoming challenges from extreme geological heterogeneity. Through analysis of the Bohai Bay Basin, the research team revealed that the synergistic coupling of multiple geological factors governs shale oil accumulation and established multi-scale, multi-factor accumulation models for non-marine shale oil. Their new predictive model pinpoints high-yield "sweet spots," validated by drilling success, offering a roadmap for efficient exploration and extraction of nonmarine shale oil.
A research team led by Prof. HU Junjie from the Institute of Biophysics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences has uncovered a pivotal mechanism by which beta-coronaviruses assemble in cells, providing a novel target for developing broadly antiviral strategies.
Approximately 1 in 6 individuals or couples face difficulties conceiving naturally, according to the World Health Organisation (WHO)'s statistics. On the other hand, assisted fertility cycles with the support of genetic testing improve implantation and pregnancy rates by as much as 70%. Precision medicine, which integrates preimplantation genetic testing (PGT) into in vitro fertilization (IVF) offers the ultimate solution.
