CEMDI-PAIMS Symposium advances materials discovery through Computational materials science, AI, data, experimental insights and international collaboration
Meeting Announcement
More than 80 researchers, students and industry representatives from Canada, Japan, France, the United Arab Emirates, and the United States gathered in Montreal from July 28 to 31 for the 4th CEMDI-PAIMS Symposium, an international event focused on advancing data-driven materials design and discovery.
Led by Professor Kulbir Ghuman of the Institut national de la recherche scientifique (INRS), holder of the Canada Research Chair in Computational Materials Design for Energy and Environmental Applications, the 2026 edition of the symposium was held on the campus of McGill University.
The 46th COSPAR Scientific Assembly and Associated Events (COSPAR 2026) has concluded in Florence, Italy, bringing together more than 3,000 participants from around the world to exchange the latest results in space research and strengthen international scientific collaboration. Approximately one third of participants were students or early-career researchers, demonstrating the broad participation of the next generation of space scientists from around the world.
Standardised SIM card functionality poses security risk to modern mobile communication devices, including Internet of Things (IoT) deployments.
Rapid land use changes across the Southeast United States are creating challenges for young and beginning farmers, family farm operations and the economies of rural communities.
To address this challenge, the University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture (UTIA) and the Tennessee Farm Bureau Federation will host the inaugural Southeast Farm and Forest Land Summit on Monday, October 12, 2026, at the Tennessee Farm Bureau headquarters in Columbia, Tennessee.
ARDD 2026 has announced that Thomas Marron, AVP, Emerging Innovation and Strategic Growth at Eli Lilly, will speak at the 13th Aging Research & Drug Discovery (ARDD) Meeting, taking place October 1–3, 2026, at the David Rubenstein Treehouse at Harvard University. As the world's leading conference dedicated to longevity biotechnology, ARDD 2026 will convene top researchers, pharmaceutical executives, entrepreneurs, and investors to accelerate the translation of aging science into next-generation medicines.

Leading voices from across the aerospace industry and academia gathered in Florence, Italy for the panel titled "Engineering Innovation Enabling Scientific Research," examining how advances in engineering are unlocking new scientific missions and how ambitious science goals are, in turn, driving engineering breakthroughs.
The panel, moderated by Alison Nordt, Director of Space Sciences & Instrumentation at Lockheed Martin Space's Advanced Technology Center, brought together six panellists to discuss the evolving relationship between space science and systems engineering: Marius Anger (Aalto University), Jon Arenberg (Northrop Grumman), Mayra Montrose (L3Harris), Giampiero Di Paolo (Thales Alenia Space Italia), Steve Squyres (Blue Origin) and Eric Stallmer (Voyager).
Leading experts in quantum science and technology from academia and industry, as well as Texas and federal policymakers, will gather Aug. 13-14 at The University of Texas at Dallas to discuss state-of-the-field topics at the Texas Quantum Summit 2026.
The 46th COSPAR Scientific Assembly brought together experts from astronomy, the satellite industry, policy and law to examine one of the most important challenges arising from the rapid growth of activities in space: how to preserve dark and quiet skies while enabling satellite systems to continue delivering valuable services to society. The meeting was chaired by Marco Tavani.
