The American Chemical Society (ACS) Fall 2025 meeting, held from August 17 to 21 in Washington, DC, has proven to be a monumental event in the scientific community. As the largest international academic event in the field of chemistry, it has drawn researchers, academics, and industry leaders from across the globe, all converging to discuss the latest advancements and challenges in chemistry and its multidisciplinary applications.
Innovation Center of NanoMedicine (iCONM), in collaboration with Prof. Takahiro Nomoto's Lab at the University of Tokyo, will hold a seminar on drug design and rationalization of treatment protocols for photodynamic therapy (PDT) based on singlet oxygen imaging on September 19, at 1:30 pm. This is based on a Japan-Germany Bilateral Collaboration Research between DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) and JSPS (Japan Society for the Promotion of Science), with the aim of expanding the framework for joint research on the topic PDT and stimulating its international collaboration.

The 34th International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence (IJCAI) takes place August 16–22, 2025 in Montréal, Canada, bringing together over 2,000 AI researchers, practitioners, and thought leaders. On Tuesday, August 12, 2025, the University of Pittsburgh Cyber Energy Center and Pitt Cyber hosted “Transforming Cybersecurity: A Multidisciplinary Approach to Risk, Technology, and Policy.” The in-person, day-long workshop brought together experts from across industries and disciplines to assess the current state of cybersecurity through a multidisciplinary lens.
Scientists from the Monell Chemical Senses Center will present their research at the 16th Pangborn Sensory Science Symposium, “Connecting Senses and Minds,” August 17-21, 2025 in Philadelphia. Monell researchers will share their investigations on added sugars, smell and taste function while taking GLP-1 weight loss medications, odor mixtures, oral sensitivity to sucrose and dairy fat, and sensory mechanisms of tasting complex carbohydrates.
