Putting solar panels above agricultural crops may do more than produce food and clean energy on the same land: It can also significantly augment quality of life for farmworkers, according to new research to be presented at AGU’s 2025 Annual Meeting in New Orleans.

Gen Z views the world as a scary place, according to new research presented at the 2025 Society for Risk Analysis Conference. In ongoing research that began in Fall 2022, Gabriel Rubin, Ph.D. a justice studies professor at Montclair State University, has now conducted 104 long-form interviews with Gen Z young people in the Northeast United States about their views on politics, risk and protest—expanding on his initial findings from the study, Gen Z Risk Perceptions: Crisis, Risk and Hope. A majority of interviewees agreed with the statement “Gen Z sees the world as a scary place,” and most also personally view the world as frightening. 

The SWIFTT project invites foresters, forest managers, and other forestry experts to its upcoming hybrid seminar, “Technology & Forestry,” taking place on 11 February 2026, from 9:00 to 17:00 CET, at Terblock Castle, in Overijse, Belgium, 25km from Brussels. The event will feature a live demonstration of the SWIFTT platform and presentations from project team, allowing participants to discover how it supports timely, data-driven decision-making in the field, and helps foresters detect and prevent spruce bark beetle outbreaks, as well as analyse windthrow and fire damage. Various forest stakeholders from the public and private sectors will also talk about their solutions for a sustainable forest management across Europe.

The discharge and prevalence of psychoactive drugs in surface waters has raised concerns about potential risks to ecosystems and public health. Yet there is limited information on the ecotoxicity of these compounds in marine environments and aquaculture.

New research on public attitudes toward AI indicates that most people are reluctant to let ChatGPT and other AI tools diagnose their health condition, but see promise in technologies that use AI to help diagnose cancer. These and other results of two nationally representative surveys will be presented at the annual meeting of the Society for Risk Analysis Dec. 7-10 in Washington, DC.

Researchers at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center have characterized the complex microenvironment in angioimmunoblastic T cell lymphoma (AITL), a type of nodal T cell lymphoma, and identified overexpression of the CD40 protein as a potential biomarker associated with improved overall survival (OS).
