The American Psychiatric Association’s 2025 Annual Meeting features nationally recognized experts in psychiatry and mental health policy, research, and clinical practice. The meeting’s theme is Lifestyle for Positive Mental and Physical Health, and will feature more than 450 educational sessions on 50 different topics and more than 1,000 poster sessions.
The PREPSOIL project, part of the EU Mission Soil, aims to enhance soil literacy by encouraging teachers across Europe to integrate soil topics into their lessons. In 2023 and 2024, educators submitted over 50 innovative soil education practices for primary, secondary, and vocational students. A selection committee chose outstanding entries from six countries, highlighting creative interdisciplinary approaches.
Key partners, such as the Re Soil Foundation in Italy and the Swedish Centre for School Biology, played crucial roles in promoting the initiative. Despite challenges in reaching educators in some regions, PREPSOIL continues to drive awareness about soil health.
A webinar on February 13, 2025, will feature two competition winners presenting their projects.
Applied Microbiology International has announced that it is partnering with the Minoritised Life Scientists Future Forum (MLSFF) conference, which takes place at the end of March.
Life scientists across the UK are invited to MLSFF, which is the first event of its kind in Europe, and is designed to foster an inclusive and collaborative space for scientists from minoritised and underrepresented backgrounds.
World-renowned stem cell scientists will gather in Kyoto, Japan for the International Society for Stem Cell Research (ISSCR) International Symposium, 20 Years of iPSC Discovery: A Celebration and Vision for the Future. Professor Shinya Yamanaka, who earned the 2012 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for his breakthrough iPSC discovery, is leading the scientific program for the historic event.
